Painting with gratitude

Samantha Buller is an oil painter based in Petaluma, California, where she lives with her husband and two young children and paints full time from her home studio. She earned her BFA in Painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2009.

Originally from the Bay Area, Samantha draws inspiration from the distinctive light and natural beauty of Northern California. Her thoughtful, expressive paintings invite viewers to slow down, look closely, and find connection in the familiar. Whether painting landscape, still life, or the figure, she is drawn to the quiet beauty of ordinary moments and the possibility of transforming them into something visually and emotionally resonant.

At the heart of Samantha’s work is a love of color, value, and simplicity. Moving fluidly between subjects keeps her practice fresh and allows her to continually explore the relationships between light, atmosphere, and form.

Beyond her studio practice, Samantha is passionate about bringing artists together and enjoys teaching workshops that encourage creativity, connection, and inspiration. Her paintings are represented in galleries throughout California, Arizona, Colorado, and Vermont.

Above all, Samantha believes beauty can be found in the everyday—and that painting offers a way to pause, pay attention, and celebrate it.
